It aims to present the essentials of Basset’s work, while omitting the academic apparatus so as to make what is a lively and interesting book more accessible to the general reader. This edition was produced to celebrate the 200th anniversary of the restoration of the English Province after the suppression of the Jesuits in 1773. The pagination is cross-referenced with the original for those who wish to refer to it.
