This is a Special Order book which has to be individually ordered from the Institute of Jesuit Sources in St Louis, USA. It may take up to a month to arrive. If you are shopping from the US it may be quicker and cheaper to order directly from the IJS (https://www.jesuitsources.com/)

Theodore Cardinal McCarrick, Howard J. Gray SJ, John J. DeGioia, Lay-Jesuit Collaboration in Higher Education

This brief book recounts a forum, held in 2001, at Georgetown University in Washington, D.C., shortly after the selection of Dr. John DeGioia as the first lay president of that university. After a foreword by James Connor, S.J., the director of the Woodstock Theological Center at Georgetown, the forum's moderator, Dolores R. Leckey, writers on the questions that shape our future; Cardinal McCarrick, former archbishop of Washington, speaks of a particular collaboration within a university church, Fr. Gray, rector of the Jesuit community at John Carroll University in Cleveland, talks of colleagueship in the light of Jesuit General Congregation 34, and Dr. DeGioia speaks of giving life to "Our Way of Proceeding." Three appendixes provide texts from General Congragation 34 dealing with Jesuits and higher education: decree 13 ("Cooperation with the Laity in Mission"), decree 16 ("The Intellectual Dimension of Jesuit Ministries"), and decree 17 ("Jesuits and University Life").
